‘More Fired Up’ – an exhibition of contemporary ceramics opened on Thursday evening 31st May. A fair sized crowd was greeted by fire dancers and the Gallery awash with warm orange light. Academics, artists and art lovers mingled with local ceramicists, exhibition curator Jenny Stretton talked boldly about the power of partnerships in troubled times – here the KZNSA and the Durban Art Gallery teamed up to continue the recent showing of ‘All Fired Up’ at the DAG. Tony Starkey, HOD Fine Art at the DUT mentioned ‘Seeing the contemporary works in isolation, in a new space, brought a new perspective’.
